Valorie's work featured at Willow Studio, Regina

The Willow Studio on Regina's 13th Ave is now showcasing Valorie's paintings, with several originals on display, as well as a selection of ready-made giclées. Valorie's full catalog of giclées is also available for custom ordering, to suit your specific size and framing style.

Valorie's work will only be at Willow Studio for a limited engagement this fall, so be sure to drop by before the snow arrives! Take a friend along, too.

The Pay-the-Rent Event Worked!

Thank you to all who contributed to the successful pay-the-rent sale I had before I left for Newfoundland. I will be back in my Ottawa studio this fall.

Spending time in my Change Islands' studio has inspired some quite different pieces. The Middle East conflict, along with some very good books - "The Attack" by Yasmina Khadra comes to mind, have pushed their way into my work alongside the amazing blues of the sea & sky that I absorb each day. Oh, but the oranges and purples of the sunsets are there, too.

By the way, I am looking for a compatible artist to share my studio space and moderate the expense for me. Please pass along my name to anyone who might be interested. I look forward to seeing you all come September.

My last-chance-to-pay-the-rent event
Tuesday May 30, 2006
5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Why attend my pay-the-rent event?

  1. Art isn’t art until someone buys it. Until then it is either (a) an obsession or (b) a storage problem. You can help me with both!
  2. If you are not happy with any purchase you may return the painting within 2 weeks for a full refund.
  3. The purchase of Canadian art for your business is 100% tax deductible.
  4. My landlord has a lot of buddies named 'Tony' who have perfected the 'art' of enforcing rent payments.
  5. I have many pieces to complement your decor and even ones to stimulate your soul.
  6. If enough of my paintings are carried out the door perhaps I can extend my lease for another year

Call 261-1351 or e-mail if you prefer a solo appointment. Check my web site for studio directions.

Web connects artists and art lovers

"Christine Christianson, a high school English teacher in Wytheville, Virginia, decided last June to honour the memory of her late husband, Scott, by acquiring a painting for the den of the couple's home. It could not be just any painting, but a painting somehow linked to the American-English poet T. S. Eliot, creator of such classics as The Waste Land and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock..."

Autumn 2004

Autumn began with many exciting developments for me, including an innovative relationship with Royal Lepage sales representative Carole Evans. Carole's newly remodelled "Showcase and Design Home" at 20 Milne Crescent, Kanata, is decorated with furniture and appliances from Colonial Furniture and 20 pieces of my art! The home, furniture and paintings are all for sale. You can read more about this dynamic collaboration and view images of the lovely property on Carole Evans' web site.

Head to downtown Ottawa and the news is that the Art Rental and Sales Service of the Ottawa Art Gallery has expanded its collection of my paintings. Art Rental and Sales, located in the Arts Court building at 2 Daly Ave, is offering these works for sale or rent for a limited period. For details, visit their web site or call at 613-233-8865.

My work is also adding colour to another part of the province at The Manndate Group's new Mississauga showroom. The Mandate Group is a one-stop resource for designers and decorators. The showroom now has 15 of my pieces on display! (one original and the remainder giclées). Leslie Mann, president, says about my paintings, "Great work and very different. Valorie's art is truly original because it is all so different and refreshing. It's not a reworking of something done before. " For more information visit The Manndate Group's website or call 905-820-3001.

Two upcoming events at my studio: A Person's Day Celebration and Harmony House fundraiser on Monday October 18, 5-7 p.m. and an Open Studio on the weekends of Oct 22-24 and 29-31. For more details see "Studio Events".

Finally, an image from Newfoundland, where I now have my own little piece of the rock. I spent time there this summer and will return for a couple weeks later this fall.
